Devils, Sharks Advance To Portuguese Super Bowl

Last weekend the Lisbon Devils and Algarve Sharks advanced to the Portuguese final in two, totally different ways. While the Devils were disposing of the Paredes Lumberjacks at home in Lisbon, the Sharks sat at home as they had qualified due to the refusal of the Porto Mutts to play the game that weekend.

In Lisbon, the Devils hosted the underdog Paredes Lumberjacks. At first, the game was dominated by both defenses but once the Devils offense started clicking they were difficult to stop.

The first touchdown came on a run by William La’Prado. After that, the quarterback-receiver connection of Joey Bradley and Collin Franklin started rolling and was able to put three touchdowns on the board. Bradley ended the game with a fourth touchdown pass, this one to Bruno Cardoso.

The Lumberjacks were never able to keep up with the offensive showdown of the home team and only reached the red zone two times but unable to score. They also had a field goal attempt blocked in the second half.

Politics decided other semi-final

Up north, the Porto Mutts and the Algarve Sharks should have played but an issue between the home team Mutts and the Portuguese Association of American Football regarding the scheduling of the game ended up in a statement by the Mutts claiming that they would not play the game – at least not in that weekend.

With that being said, the league issued a statement and claimed the Sharks the winners of the game by a 2-0 score. With this, the Sharks go on to the final.
