Early Super Bowl Prop Bets To Consider
The Super Bowl is set, Seahawks vs. Patriots (again, 11 years later). The question is, do you have your prop bets set?
If not, then keep on reading because we’re going to lay out some of our favorite Super Bowl prop bets to consider, we’re not saying to bet the house on them yet. But upon a quick inspection of the bets available, these ones caught our attention the most. Keep reading and we’ll share some early advice on how to bet on the Super Bowl!
Rashid Shahead 50+ Recieving Yards
We think this bet is criminally undervalued upon first look. Right now, most bookies are giving this +375 yards. Really? After what Shaheed has already done this postseason?
In the NFC Championship game, he caught a 51-yard bomb early to set up Seattle’s first score. The week before that, against the 49ers, Shaheed housed the opening kickoff for a touchdown. This guy has made a big player every game, which is why the +375 odds seems was too high.
Shaheed was acquired from the Saints in the middle of the season and yes, he hasn’t been as much of a pass-catcher for the Seahawks as he was for his old team. But… what’s the saying? You can’t teach speed? That’s Shaheed to a tee, and our inkling says he can break one big play to get that yardage. Keep an eye on this bet… .
Alternate Game Spread
Seattle opened as 4.5-point favorites over the Patriots. Many top betting sites offer alternate betting lines, say Patriots -3 or Seahawks -14. This will wildly change the betting odds, which is the allure of the entire bet.
Personally, we’re of the belief that the Seahawks are the superior team in almost every facet. Quarterback. Running back. Wide receivers. Defense. Coaching.
Therefore, we’re heavily considering taking Seattle by an alternate spread that’s higher than the regular spread (-4.5). Something like -10 would pay out at a whopping +200 odds. Betting on blowouts in the Super Bowl isn’t fun, but we think it’s possible given the matchup.
Rhamondre Stevenson 25+ Rushing Yards
New England uses a running back by committee; however, it’s usually Stevenson that gets the most carries, especially since the playoffs began. But we’re going to be honest, we don’t think any Patriots running back is going to fare well against Seattle.
We said the Seahawks had the better defense earlier, and we meant it. They are allowing just 17.2 yards per game, the lowest in the NFL. Even more impressive, they’ve gone 27 consecutive games without allowing a 100-yard rusher, despite facing steep competition.
Any betting line that has Stevenson having a big game on the ground should be faded in our opinion, including 25 yards. Even breaking one big play against this Seattle D is unlikely… so consider betting unders on yardage totals for the Pats running back.
Super Bowl MVP
Alright, we’ve already made it clear that we think the Seahawks will win it all. And if they do, then one of its players must win the MVP of the game.
Of course, that award usually goes to the quarterback. Sam Darnold is +135 to be named the game’s MVP. That’s too easy of a bet to make in our opinion, and Darnold can be turnover-happy at times.
It might make sense to take a flyer bet on someone else on the team, and that someone could be running back Kenneth Walker. He had a three-touchdown explosion earlier in the playoffs, and who’s to say he can’t do the same in the “big game”?
Many think Jaxson Smith-Njigba is the better position player, and he is. But he needs a big Darnold game to do well. Not Walker. He’s less dependent on Darnold so we like that, alongside his +650 betting line.
Gatorade Bath Color
Alright, time to have some fun. Whereas with the other bets, you can do real research into the matchup, this prop bet is a pure crapshoot. What color will be the Gatorade be that’s dropped on the winning coach’s head?
Orange is the favorite at +215, then purple (+260), green (+275), and finally, blue (+400). There are also some long-shot bets for clear-colored and no Gatorade bath.
We have no edge in this bet (nor does anyone else that doesn’t work for the team), but our gut says blue is mispriced. We mean, both teams’ primary color is navy blue. Naturally, you’d think at least one would get a blue Gatorade color, right? Who knows, but we say it’s worth throwing some money on.
Alright, that’s five early Super Bowl bets we’re considering. There’s a ton more out there, and we’ll be spending the next few weeks digging up more opportunities on how to bet on the Super Bowl!
