In a thrilling matchup, the Elecom Kobe Finies and the Nojima Sagamihara Rise ended their game in a 24-24 tie, halting Nojima’s winning streak at three games. Both teams showcased their offensive capabilities, but neither could secure the victory in the fourth round of the X1 Super.
Elecom Kobe strikes first
The game began with both teams trading field goals, leaving the score tied at 3-3. Elecom Kobe took control in the second quarter when quarterback David Pindell connected with running back Reo Tanabe for a touchdown pass. Following that, running back Ichihari Hiroto extended the lead with a 14-yard touchdown run, putting the Finies ahead 17-3.
Nojima’s comeback
However, the Rise responded with a flurry of scoring. Quarterback Kurt Palandech threw a touchdown pass to Tay Cunningham, and running back Sho Yoshizawa electrified the crowd with a 68-yard punt return touchdown. By the end of the first half, Nojima had surged ahead 24-17, showcasing their explosive offense.
A dramatic finish
The third quarter ended scoreless, setting the stage for a tense final quarter. Elecom Kobe, trailing by 7 points, mounted a drive that culminated in a 17-yard touchdown pass from Pindell to wide receiver Kohei Oda, tying the game at 24-24 with less than two minutes remaining.
Nojima had a chance to win it late in the game, advancing to the 16-yard line, but kicker Taiki Sato’s field goal attempt missed, sealing the tie.
Individual standout performances
For Nojima, Kurt Palandech completed 23 of 30 passes for 184 yards and 2 touchdowns, while also rushing for 14 yards. Tay Cunningham was a key target, catching 4 passes for 46 yards and a touchdown. Sho Yoshizawa contributed significantly with a 68-yard punt return touchdown and 4 receptions for 24 yards.
On the Elecom side, David Pindell threw for 186 yards, completing 25 of 39 passes with 2 touchdowns, while also rushing for 42 yards. Daiki Uchida was the standout receiver, catching 9 passes for 74 yards. Reo Tanabe also made an impact with a touchdown reception and 4 receiving yards.
