ELF: Munich expansion team announces name and logo

Munich, the European League of Football’s latest expansion team, has announced its name and branding ahead of the 2023 season.

Munich will enter the 2023 season as the Munich Ravens and compete as one of four new expansion teams – Milano Seamen (Italy), Fehérvár Enthroners (Hungary) and Helvetic Guards (Switzerland).

The Ravens were founded by Thomas Krohne, a sports media entrepreneur, and Christian Binder, a financial investor, who are also league shareholders in addition to investors in the Bavarian based team.

The Ravens have also announced that Sebastian Stolz has been appointed to the position of General Manager. Stolz has an impressive marketing resume in both the NFL and the former NFL Europe.

When asked about the origins of the name and branding Stolz replied:

“When looking for a name for our franchise, one thing was clear: we wanted a name that represented us as a team. The raven as an animal and the English name ‘Munich Ravens’ quickly emerged.

“The ‘mystical’ aspect of ravens fascinated us – at the same time ravens are very intelligent and clever animals. They like to play and are extremely team players. This is exactly what our players should stand for: clever moves, great enthusiasm for the game and absolute teamwork.”
