Ex-NFL linebacker Micheal Barrow arrested after family dispute at Florida Airport
The incident began around 9 p.m. Monday after a heated argument broke out between Barrow and his younger son while the family was on the way to their terminal. The dispute escalated, and Barrow’s wife, Shelley, attempted to intervene by wrapping herself around their child in an effort to calm the situation.
According to the report, Barrow inadvertently struck Shelley in the face, causing her to fall to the ground. The document further states that Barrow then punched his younger son, which prompted his older son to step in after witnessing his mother injured. The older son wrestled with Barrow until authorities arrived.
Barrow was ultimately arrested and booked in a Broward County jail on a charge of battery. Court records show he entered a not guilty plea to the allegations on Wednesday.
Barrow, a second-round pick in the 1993 NFL Draft, played 12 seasons in the league with the Oilers, Panthers, Giants, and Cowboys. Before his NFL career, he starred at the University of Miami, where he helped the Hurricanes win two national championships.
After retiring, Barrow transitioned into coaching. He worked on Miami’s staff from 2007 to 2013, before spending time with the Seattle Seahawks from 2015 to 2017.
