Final stats leaders in Finland as playoffs set to start

With the playoffs looming in Finland’s Maple League , AFI presents the  final regular season leaders in the key offensive categories of passing yardage, rushing, receiving, all-purpose yards, touchdowns scored and total offense (passing/rushing) along with the key defensive category, tackles

Of the six teams, the Kuopio Steelers had the most representatives on the six stats leaders lists with 10 while the Wasa Royals had eight. The  Seinäjoki Crocodiles, Porvoon Butchers and Helsinki Wolverines had five apiece. The  Helsinki Roosters had only two representatives listed, although it was same player, Miro Kadmiry.

Two player led two categories. Alpha Jalloh of the Wasa Royals was the leading receiver in the Maple League and also led all players in All Purpose Yards while Helsinki Roosters QB Miro Kadmiry led both the passing yardage category and total offense.

Passing

Despite the fact that his team, the Helsinki Roosters, was eliminated from playoff contention on the final weekend of play in the Maple League, QB Miro Kadmiry was the top passer in the regular season with 1,234 yards passing and 14 TDs. His top passing game was 347 yards vs the Porvoon Butchers. Not far behind in second spot is Seth Peters of the Kuopio Steelers with his 1,215 yards after throwing for 259 yards in the final game. He too also threw 14 TD passes. Wolverines QB Chris Forcier finished third with 764 yards while Brandon Gwinner of the Wasa Royals was a solid fourth with 732 yards. Porvoon Buthers QB Jabari Harris rounds out the Top 5 with 728 yards.

Rushing

Seinäjoki Crocodiles RB Christian Powell was simply a force during the regular season  and with his 165 yards rushing in the final game before the playoffs he finished with 803 yards rushing. His top rushing game was his monster performance of 352 yards against the Wasa Royals. He averaged 160.6 yards a game and 8.4 yards a carry.  Lamar Carswell of the Kuopio Steelers  climbed back up into second with 539 yards  while

Butchers QB Jabari Harris finished as the third leading rusher in the Maple League with 474 yards. Wasa Royals RB Tom Suoste wound up fourth with 415 yards while his QB Brandon Gwinner was the fifth leading rusher with 364 yards .

Total Offense (combining passing and rushing)

Roosters QB Miro Kadmiry also topped the total offense category with a total of 1,264 yards. Not far behind was Jabari Harris of the Butchers with his 1,202 yards while Steelers QB Seth Peters had 1,194 and Royals QB Brandon Gwinner racked up 1,096 all purpose yards, good for 3rd and 4th respectively. Right behind him in 5th was Chris Forcier of the Wolverines who had 1.092.

Receiving

Wasa Royals WR Alpha Jalloh with 457 yards topped all receivers after the final regular season game and his top receiving day was 213 yards versus the Wolverines. Sebastien Sagne of the Helsinki Wolverines wound up second with his 440 yards receiving. Right behind him in 3rd is Tino Ndongo  of the Kuopio Steelers with 389 yards while Mikko Seppänen of the Porvoon Butchers finished 4th also with 389 yards. Steelers WR Josh Vandeweerd with 370 yards ended the season in 5th.

Touchdowns

 

With 12 touchdowns, Steelers RB Lamar Carswell led all scorers. He had two 4 TD games, one against the Roosters in the opening game and another versus the Butchers. Meanwhile, Wasa Royals Alpha Jalloh wound up 2nd with his 10 TDs tying him with Christian Powell of the Seinäjoki Crocodiles (not the Steelers) and Tino Ndongo also of the Steelers. Helsinki Wolverines QB Chris Forcier ended 5th, scoring 9 TDs in five games.

Tackles

Seinäjoki Crocodiles LB Jaska Varinen was the leading tackler in the Maple League in the shortened 2020 season recording 31.5, averaging 6.3 a game.  He had two 9 tackle games, versus the Roosters and Royals. William James of the Wolverines came 2nd with 29, tied with Steelers LB Kadel King. Lamin Latikka of the Royals ended in 4th with 27 tackles while another Seinäjoki player, Veikka Lehtonen wound up in 5th with 26.

All Purpose (rushing, receiving, kick and punt returns)

Alpha Jalloh of the Wasa Royals also led all players in All Purpose yards during the season. the versatile Jalloh had 1,013 averaging 202.6 per game. Crocodiles Christian Powell finished 2nd with his 896 while Lamar Carswell was 3rd. He had 648. Roosters WR Mikko Seppänen was 4th in the category with 641 while Tino Ndongo of the Steelers was 5th with 556.
