Finland: Kuopio Steelers reinforce defense, sign safety Danny Wynne

The Kuopio Steelers of Finland’s Maple League have signed one of the top safeties in Europe, Danny Wynne, for the 2020 season.

The Steelers reached the Maple League final, the Maple Bowl, in 2019.

The 23-year-old 6’1″, 215 lb native of Hatfield, Pennsylvania, played for the Allgäu Comets in the German Football League for two seasons amassing 138 tackles and five interceptions along with 12 pass breakups. In 2017, he helped the Örebro Black Knights reach the Swedish championship final, after spending the 2016 season with Rome’s Lazio Marines.

He graduated from Delaware Valley University where his play over three years attracted NFL interest. As team captain, he amassed 327 tackles during his college career which had the Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers interested. He was a four-year starter and three-time first team All Conference player. Heading into his junior season he was a second team All American.
