Finland: Offensive stats leaders hold no surprises

With only six games left in Finland’s six-team Maple League the Helsinki Roosters top the standings with an undefeated record.

The Kuopio Steelers and Helsinki Roosters lead the league with four players  each among the top 5 in three categories while the Wasa Royals, Tampere Saints and Seinäjoki Crocodiles have two apiece. The Porvoo Butchers have a single representative.

These stats have been collected from the official Finnish Maple League stats page as of August 15.

Helsinki Roosters QB Brandon Connette leads all passers by a wide margin with 2,541 yards in nine game and 39 TDs. Kuopio Steelers QB Seth Peters is 3rd with 1,891 while Kyle Nolan of the Tampere Saints is 3rd with 1,491 yards. Wasa Royals QB Isaac Fisher is  fourth with his 1,129 yards while Jonathan Baker of the Seinäjoki Crocodiles has crept up into 5th and has thrown for 1,108 yards.

Not surprisingly, a Roosters receiver tops the Maple League in receiving yardage as Adam Connette, brother of Brandon, is the leading receiver with 826 yards and a league-best 15 TDs. He is followed by his teammate Kimi Linnainmaa who has 637 yards receiving while Tampere Saints WR Micky Kyei has 555 yards and is 3rd. Charles Wort of the Steelers is 4th. He has 424 yards and 9 TDs while another Roosters receiver, Alexander Wasiljeff has 423 yards receiving, good for 5th.

Porvoo Butchers RB Darion Hall has led the Maple League in rushing all season and now has 916 yards and 56TDs. Justin Williams of the Wasa Royals is 2nd with 872 while Christian Powell of the  Seinäjoki Crocodiles is 3rd with 734. Kuopio Steelers RB Justin Bell is 4th with 457 yards while teammate Aku Uotila is 5th with 420 yards.
