German Football League offensive stats race tightens up with a game to go

With only one game left in the German Football League regular season and teams jockeying for playoff positioning the races in the different offensive categories have tightened up.

Dresden Monarch’s WR Kevonn Mabon has retained his first place in receiving yardage while Chris McClendon of the Bruanschweig New Yorker Lions remains atop the rushing leaderboard. And as he has done for much of the season, Marburg Mercenries quarterback Jake Sullivan  tops the GFL in overall passing yardage and average yards per game.

What’s notable is that the two unbeaten teams in the league – the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns and Braunschweig New Yorker Lions – are not dominating the offensive stats.

The Marburg Mercenaries  still top the list with three players while the Hildesheim Invaders, Frankfurt Universe and Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns have two apiece. Behind them with one player are the Dresden Monarchs, Allgäu  Comets, Braunschweig New Yorker Lions, Potsdam Royals, Stuttgart Scorpions and Munich Cowboys. Teams without representation include the Cologne Crocodiles, Ingolstadt Dukes, Kiel Baltic HurricanesKirchdorf Wildcats, Berlin Rebels and Dusseldorf Panther.

Passing

Despite being idle this past weekend, Marburg Mercenaries QB Jake Sullivan continues to dominate the passing yardage leaderboard and now has 4,280 yards and a league best 41 TDs. Steven Cluley, QB of the Frankfurt Universe held onto 2nd despite playing only two quarters against Stuttgart and has 3,326 yards while Stuttgart’s QB Michael Eubank returned to the list and now has 3,191 yards. Casey Therriault from the Hildesheim Invaders has  moved back up to 4th with his 3,137 yards while Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns QB Jadrian Clark played for a little over one quarter in his team’s 71-26 shellacking of the Allgau Comets but his 102 yards gives him 3,135 yards for the season, good for 5th. He leads the league in TD passes with 40.

Rushing

Chris McClendon of the Braunschweig New Yorker Lions added to his rushing lead rushing for 134 yards against Dusseldorf in one half of play in a 77-13 rout of the Panther. He now has 1,428 and 15 TDs. Gennadiy Adams of the Potsdam Royals held onto 2nd with his 1,170 yards while Frankfurt Universe’s Justin Rodney moved up again rushing for 96 yards against Stuttgart giving him 867. Marburg Mercenaries RB Triston McCathern is the 4th leading rusher in the GFL with 851 yards while Comets running back Lennies McFerren has dropped to 4th with 794.

Receiving

Kevonn Mabon of the Dresden Monarchs caught 11 passes for 159 yards and 3 TDs against Hildesheim and retains his receiving yards lead with 1,622 yards and a league-leading 18 TDs. is the new receiving yards leader and has 1,463 yards and 15 TDs.  Jaylen Zachery of the Munich Cowboys has missed three games but still is the second leading receiver in the GFL and has hauled in 1,446 yards in 12 games. Hildesheim Invaders WR Nathaniel Morris returned to action against Dresden and remains the 3rd leading receiver in the GFL with 1,112 yards and 10 TDs. Unicorns receiver, Nate Robitaille has held onto 4th and has 1,053 yards and 14 TDs. Marburg Mercenaries WR Hendrik Schwarz stays in 5th with his 1,052 yards.
