Germany’s Hamburg Huskies re-sign league sack leader Milos Lisanin

The Hamburg Huskies and head coach Anthony Rouzier have re-signed a key part of their defense in Serbian defensive end Milos Lisanin.

The 6’2″, 265 lb Lisanin, was the dread of quarterbacks in the German Football League in 2017, recording 18 sacks in his 12 games to lead the league. He was also third in tackles for loss with 29 and had 66 tackles.

The 29 year old has been terrorizing quarterbacks in Europe for the past seven years. As well as being the captain of the Serbian national team, he has played for Vukovi Belgrade in his native Serbia, the Orebro Black Knights in Sweden where he helped them reach the Swedish final in 2015 while also being named Import of the Year in Sweden. He also played for Turkey’s Koc Rams before joining Hamburg for the 2017 season.

The Huskies finished the season with a four game winning streak under Rouzier who took over late in the year. During those four games, the Huskies defensive front seven allowed opponents just under 50 yards rushing per game.

Lisanin:

“We started something last year, and I’d like to finish it. I expect a lot from the new season. There are a lot of new players coming to the Huskies and my stated goal is clearly the playoffs. I know we can do it.”

Huskies Sports director Timothy Speckman:

“Last year Milos showed what he’s got leading the league in sacks. He is a tough and smart player who is incredibly hard to stop and will be an important part of our defense. That’s why we’ll be happy to have Milos back with us.”
