Germany’s Kiel Baltic Hurricanes Sign QB Logan Schrader

The Kiel Baltic Hurricanes have found their new sign caller for the 2016 German Football League (GFL) campaign.

Logan Schrader will lead the attack of the GFL North club this year. The American started at quarterback for 4 years at Wartburg College (Iowa, NCAA D-III).

“Logan has everything what you are looking at a quarterback. He’s a leader, he’s tough, throws accurately and is also a fast runner,” said Hurricanes head coach Dan Disch.

Schrader on joining the Baltic Hurricanes;

“I chose Kiel because they are for me the best opportunity to play at a high level and at the same time get to know a new culture. I want to help the team in any form to reach the German Bowl and win the EFL Bowl”

Although they are the two-time defending EFL Bowl champions, the Hurricanes fell to the Allgau Comets in the GFL quarterfinals last season. With this move the Hurricanes hope to climbed back among the GFL North elite.

Schrader played from 2012-2015 at Wartburg College and holds school records in the categories for completed passes (659), passing yards (9,150), passing touchdowns (71) and total offense yards (10,652). For his achievements, the 22-year-old was named the Offensive Player of the Year in Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference  in 2014 and 2015.

In 2014 and 2015, Schrader was also nominated years for the Gagliardi Trophy (the D-III version of the Heisman Trophy), which is annually awarded to the player with the NCAA Division III player with the most outstanding achievements on the field, in academic performance, in and community service.
