Germany’s Munich Cowboys sign Concordia University QB Trenton Miller

The Munich Cowboys of the German Football League have signed quarterback Trenton Miller for the 2018 season.

The 6’2″, 215 lb 23 year old Miller was born in Twin Falls, Idaho but lived in Buffalo, N.Y. until age 17 before moving to Palmetto, Florida where he played high school football. He moved on to the University of South Florida (NCAA Div. I) but transferred to Mars Hill University (NCAA Div. II) in North Carolina. He spent the last three seasons at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada where he set several school records and was nominated for RSEQ Conference Offensive Player and was runner-up for the National Hec Creighton Award, Canada’s Heisman Trophy.

At Concordia, he earned his MBA from the John Molson School of Business. He was rated by many as one of the best quarterbacks in Canada over the past two years.

At Mars Hill University, Miller received the National Player of the Week award after scoring a national freshman record with six touchdown passes in a game. In just two years he set a total of eight quarterback records.

In addition, Miller took part in three Canadian Football League training camps. Miller is also the founder of NextGen Quarterback Academy where he shares his experience with young quarterbacks.

The Cowboys struggled in 2017 finishing with a 3-11 record in the German Football League as the team suffered through an injury-riddled season.

Munich Cowboys head coach Garren Holley:

“Coach Birkholz [Cowboys OC] and I really took our time in evaluating QBs. Trenton was a guy who finally had a that wow factor watching him. Took a few days of conversations to get the deal done. Just perfect timing really. Outside of his physical talent, he’s a leader. After doing the research on him, it’s easy to see the positive  impacts he has had where he’s played. His attitude and understanding of the game. He’s played in multiple systems and can adapt, which is huge for European football. And he’s a great competitor. He’s in it for the right reasons.”

American Football International asked Trenton about playing in Europe and his expectations.

AFI: How did you end up signing with the Munich Cowboys?

Miller: They reached out to me after watching my film and liked what they saw.

AFI: How much did you know about football in Europe before?

Miller: My offensive coordinator at my last school played in France and loved it.

AFI: What do you feel you bring to the Cowboys?

Miller: I feel I bring a lot of starting experience at high levels of football. I bring a strong arm, a tenacious work ethic, leadership and a will to win that’s going to help lead Munich back to the top of the German Football League.
