Harris, Joiner and Boccella remain atop GFL statistical races
Following the summer break, the German Football League returned this past weekend with teams beginning the stretch run toward the playoffs. While the races for postseason positions are heating up, several of the league’s top individual performers continued to strengthen their grip on the statistical leaderboards, with Pforzheim Wilddogs quarterback Drequan Harris, Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns running back Kelley Joiner and Munich Cowboys receiver Gabriel Boccella all continuing to lead their respective categories.
Harris extends lead in passing race
Pforzheim Wilddogs quarterback Drequan Harris has widened his advantage atop the league’s passing leaderboard. Harris has completed 150 of 246 passes (61 percent) for 2,311 yards and 25 touchdowns while averaging an impressive 15.4 yards per completion.
Munich Cowboys quarterback Nicholas Semptimphelter remains second after completing 174 of 257 passes (68 percent) for 2,246 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Climbing into third is Ravensburg Razorbacks quarterback Broghean McGovern, who has thrown for 2,110 yards and 22 touchdowns. Potsdam Royals quarterback Xeaiver Bullock ranks fourth with 1,947 passing yards but continues to lead the league with 28 touchdown passes. Dresden Monarchs quarterback Rocky Lombardi rounds out the top five with 1,826 passing yards and 19 touchdowns.
Joiner remains the standard on the ground
Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns running back Kelley Joiner continues to lead the GFL rushing race despite missing this past weekend’s game with an injury. The explosive back has carried the ball 86 times for 889 yards, averaging a remarkable 10.3 yards per carry while scoring 11 touchdowns.
Braunschweig Lions dual-threat quarterback Ryon Thomas remains second with 697 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.
Regensburg Phoenix running back Nebechi Abana has moved into third with 477 rushing yards and four touchdowns, while Joiner’s teammate Mathis Harang sits fourth with 454 yards and four scores.
Saarland Hurricanes running back Joshua Youngblood rounds out the top five with 453 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
Boccella still the league’s top target
Munich Cowboys receiver Gabriel Boccella continues to pace the GFL’s receiving leaders. He has hauled in 54 receptions for 910 yards and a league-best 15 touchdown catches.
Potsdam Royals receiver Maximilian McLeod remains close behind with 46 receptions for 811 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Allgäu Comets receiver Gabe Quigley has climbed into third after recording 62 catches for 748 yards and six touchdowns.
Dresden Monarchs standout Montigo Moss remains fourth with 741 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, while Braunschweig Lions receiver Peter Anderson rounds out the top five after continuing to be one of the league’s most dependable targets.
With every playoff race still very much alive following the league’s return from the summer break, the GFL’s statistical leaders will have plenty of opportunities to build on impressive first-half campaigns as the race toward the postseason intensifies.
