Finnish championship finalists the Helsinki Wolverines have signed dynamic running back Breon Allen for the 2021 season.
In 2020, the Wolverines reached the Maple Bowl, Finland’s title game.
Wolverines head coach Michael Mattingly is looking forward to seeing Allen playing in his team’s backfield:

The 5’8″, 185 Allen from Daytona Beach, Florida, has spent the past two seasons playing for the Aab 89ers in Denmark’s National League. In the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, he helped his team to a 2-2 record before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the league as the playoffs were about to start. He was a key in both wins however. In a 34-26 upset win over the defending champion Triangle Razorbacks, Allen had 18 carries for 187 yards and two touchdowns while catching five passes for 48 yards and another score.
In the four games for the 89ers, he accrued 598 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging an astonishing 9.6 yards per carry. What makes this even more impressive is the fact that Allen along with other Aab players were playing both ways in many games. Defensively, Allen was no slouch. His 18 solo tackles were enough to rank him second on his team. For his performance in 2020, he was named to the American Football International All-Pandemic Team.
In 2019, his first year with the 89ers, in eight games he rushed for 1,083 yards and 14 touchdowns on 108 carries while catching 16 passes for 143 yards and another five scores. He also scored two touchdowns on punt returns and one on a kickoff return. And he played defense recording seven tackles and an interception.
The previous season, 2018, his first in Europe, playing for the Hannover Spartans in Germany’s third division, he led the team to an 11-3 record and promotion to GFL2. He scored 29 touchdowns in 14 games, 17 rushing, five receiving, two on interceptions, three on kick returns and two on punt returns.
Allen enjoyed an excellent career at East Carolina University (NCAA Div. I, FBS) where he rushed for 1,180 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also caught 44 passes for 419 yards in his 22 games with the Pirates.
