Danish offensive lineman Hjalte Froholdt who was drafted in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots (118th overall), has not disappointed.

Quite the opposite. He had a sparkling debut against the Detroit Lions.

The 6’5″, 315 lb, 22 year old native of Svendborg, Denmark who played football in his native country for the Søllerød Gold Diggers, and wound up playing for the Arkansas Razorbacks, has shown in his first preseason game, that there was a reason the Patriots drafted him.

When he played for the Razorbacks, he was a quick study and the coaching staff moved him from defensive line to offensive line where he started all 13 games in 2016 at left guard. The following year he started all 12 games and did not allow a sack while taking only two penalties. Froholdt started his senior season at center, starting the first three games there before switching back to left guard for the final nine contests. He finally got beaten for a sack late in the season, the first time in two years.

In his debut against the Lions, Froholdt was on the field for every offensive snap and played some special teams too. Not bad at all for a rookie.

We will continue to follow Froholdt’s progress as he battles to make the 53 man Patriots roster.
