Iceland’s Reykjavik Einherjar looking for a coach

The Reykjavik Einherjar are the only team in Iceland and in their quest to improve the game in their own country and improve their team, they are now searching for a head coach for the 2022 spring season.

With the worst ravages of the pandemic hopefully behind us, and much of the American football world beginning to return to normal, the Einherjar have decided that the next natural step in their growth and development is to bring in a highly experienced head coach who could also handle all levels of football development from the senior tier on down.

Keep in mind that due to the location and size of Iceland, this is a unique search. As the only American football club in Iceland, which is an island located 1,200 miles north of London, England, with a population of only 300,000, the Einherjar have forged a solid foundation relying mostly on homegrown talent. Despite their remote location and small talent pool, over the past five years the team has hosted teams from Finland, Sweden, Austria, Norway, Germany, the United States and Great Britain, winning nine games and losing five.  They lost to Finland’s Kuopio Steelers in 2019 as well as the American semi-pro team the Empire State Wolfpack. Prior to that in 2018, they defeated the Carinthian Lions from Austria while also beating Swedish semifinalists, the Uppsala 86ers 39-27. They traveled to Mallorca in late October 2017 to play the Spanish first division team the Mallorca Voltors. Reykjavík won the game, 21-14.

Now, they want to continue to improve so they have listed the requirements and also what they are offering. The season will run from February and end anywhere from April – June.

👉 A coach who can manage a busy schedule coaching adult A and B teams as well as multiple youth teams.
👉 A coach who can run speed/agility training programs and also handle school recruiting.
