IFAF Europe Champion Helsinki Roosters Sign 2015 Imports

Finland’s and IFAF Europe Champions League winners the Helsinki Roosters have re-signed running back Jaycen Taylor for season 2015.

Taylor was a big part of the Roosters double championship campaign in 2014. Taylor played only 6 regular season games of Finland’s Maple League and was still able to score 14 touchdowns for the Roosters. He had multiple touchdown performances in all of IFAF Champions League games.

Helsinki Roosters head coach Juha Hakala is more than glad to have Jaycen Taylor back, “Jaycen was a key play maker in our team last season and getting him back is great news. He simply is a super athlete and also great person on and off the field with his big heart and smile.”

Taylor on returning to Helsinki for 2015:

I re-signed because I had a great time in Helsinki. There is a lot more I would love to see I Finland. Even more so I loved the team, a lot of young guys that’s coming back. And I just would like to continue playing with these guys… I don’t expect anything less than we accomplished last season. So I’m shooting for another Championship.

Jaycen Taylor’s 2014 Highlights:

The Roosters have big shoes to fill at the quarterback position. After losing veteran QB Robert Johnson to injury midway through 2015, the Roosters successfully replaced him when Sean Shelton came in and led the red & white to the IFAF Europe and Finnish titles.

For 2015 the Roosters have signed quarterback Josh Hollingsworth (183cm/ 98kg).

Hollingsworth was born September, 1990 in Northport, Alabama. He played for Faulkner University Eagles of the NAIA’s Mid-South Conference from season 2011 to 2013. During his collegiate career he passed for 11,532 yards and 111 touchdowns.

In his senior season Hollingsworth was MSC West Divisions Offensive Player of the Year & First Team NAIA All-American. Thus far in 2014 Hollingsworth has been working as graduate assistant coach for Faulkner University.

Helsinki Roosters head coach Juha Hakala is impressed about his new QB’s talent, “Josh is very accurate quarterback who has good arm strength. He also has experience in coaching, so he has good tools to also teach our young QB’s & WR’s.”

Josh Hollingsworth on playing for the Roosters in 2015:

I chose to sign with the Roosters because they are a great organization with a history of winning. They are also a great group of coaches and players. I hope to win the championship again this year. I am not worried about what kind of stats I have, as long as we win.
