Japan: All Mitsubishi Lions sign former Denver Broncos DL Paul Boyette

The All Mitisubishi Lions of Japan’s X League have signed former Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders and Texas Longhorns defensive tackle, Paul Boyette Jr.

The 6-1″, 310 pound, 26-year-old Boyette, a native of Humble, Texas spent time on the rosters of both the Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders in 2017 and 2018. A graduate of the University of Texas, Boyette enjoyed a five-year career with the Longhorns playing in 42 career games with eight starts. He amassed 100 tackles, 17.0 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks in his career.  He graduated with a degree in Physical Culture and Sports with a minor in Education. An active member of his community, Boyette regularly mentors youth in Humble, Texas, and coaches young aspiring football players for the Texas Footwork Bengals 7on7 team.

In 2019, the All Mitsubishi Lions finished with a 1-6 record in the X League’s eight-team top division, their first year as one of the best eight teams in Japan.

Boyette:

“I would like to thank the entire Mitsubishi corporation for giving me this great opportunity to represent them. I look forward to being a leader on the field, as well as off the field in the community. I’m excited to get to Japan and meet my teammates and peers.”

The X League is notoriously difficult to navigate for foreign athletes but Boyette was helped by Red Phoenix Entertainment, a firm based in Houston, dedicated to helping athletes reach new markets.
