Japan: XLeague Week Four set for topsy-turvy action with a battle of unbeatens

The XLeague  heads into its week 4 round of games while week 3 still has games remaining. We will have the remaining matchups for you once all teams have played three games. The key showdown is Sunday’s clash between the undefeated Panasonic Impulse and 3-0 Fujitsu Frontiers.

As One Black Eagles (2-1) -v- Nagoya Cyclones (1-2)

2017 September 30th (Sat): Expo Flash Field Osaka (12:00)

A must-win for a Black Eagles team that is battling with Creators and Lions for the two wild card spots available to battle nine teams. It’s a rematch of the first match of the season, which As One won 19-7 in Kobe.

Prediction: 21-0 Black Eagles

Club Hawkeye (0-3) -v- Bulls Football Club (0-3)

2017 September 30th (Sat): Expo Flash Field Osaka (15:00)

Two teams looking for their first win of the season. We expected Hawkeye to beat Cyclones last time out but they fell 7-18 to the Nagoya side. Bulls put up a strong showing against a decent Pirates side and looked a lot better than in previous games.

Prediction: 28-7 Bulls

Asahi Soft Drinks Challengers (1-2) -v- Tokyo Gas Creators (2-1)

2017 October 1st (Sun): Yanmar Field Osaka (12:00)

The bottom team in the Super Nine misses out on the playoffs and right now that looks like it’s going to be a battle between Challengers and sister company side Silver Star. They don’t face each other and with Fujitsu and IBM up next Challengers have to win this game. The Creators, last week aside, have looked very tough. May be closer than many expect.

Prediction: 21-14 Challengers

Panasonic Impulse (3-0) -v- Fujitsu Frontiers (3-0)

2017 October 1st (Sun): Yanmar Field Osaka (15:00)

The big one. Probably the most mouth-watering clash of the season so far and a possible preview of the Japan X Bowl. Fans think the extra week off and home field advantage gives Impulse the edge. We’re not so sure. Fujitsu didn’t play their starters much so far and have looked really good at times. You get the feeling they’ve been saving something for this game.

Prediction: 24-17 Frontiers
