Quarterback Jordan Paul Joins Torino Giaguari In Italy

Jordan Paul has signed on as the new quarterback for the Torino Giaguari from Turin, Italy for the 2017 season.

The 6’3″. 215 lb Paul, a native of Brooklyn, New York,  finished his college football career at the University of Charleston (NCAA Div. II) after transferring from Gardner Webb (NCAA Div. I). He served both as quarterback and wide receiver.

The Torino Giaguari struggled in 2016 finishing the season with a 3-7 record in the Italian North division.

American Football International asked Jordan about how he arrived in Italy and his expectations for the 2017 season.

American Football International: How did you come to sign with Torino?

Jordan Paul: The way I signed with Torino was by a friend of mine who played there in the 2016 season. Luigi Cotrone contacted me and noticed that I wasn’t going to Australia to play anymore so he told me that his coach would be interested in me and they run the spread offense that I love to be apart of. That’s when I got in contact with the team and ended up signing.

AFI: Did you know about American football in Italy, or Europe for that matter?

Paul: I knew about American football in Europe because of a couple of my friends were part of organizations over there. So I always kept playing overseas in the back of my mind after finishing up with college.

AFI: What are you most excited about playing American football in Italy?

Paul: I am so pumped to head to Italy in general because I’ve heard a lot of good things about the country and the people. Also, I heard that the fans really appreciate the team as well as the American imports. So I’m excited for the experience.

AFI: And how do you see yourself helping Torino in 2017? As football player on the field and as a leader?

Paul: I am planning on going to Turin, Italy with the mindset of winning a championship. I want to help Torino win because I’ve seen that they didn’t do so well last season, so with them adding me to the organization is a blessing and I’m just looking forward to going far with them. Also, looking forward to being a role model for the youth out there as well as being a leader to help the community in any way I can.
