The Seoul American Football Association Open Bowl Championship is in Full Swing
This past weekend saw the conclusion of the 1st round of the Seoul American Football Association’s Collegiate spring championships in Seoul, Korea. Annually, the SAFA hosts the OPEN BOWL which features the university teams and their respective alumni players in competition for the Open Bowl Championship and bragging rights until the beginning of the university regular season coming in the fall. It also serves as an opportunity for new players to learn from the alumni and get some valuable game experience before the beginning of the fall regular season.
This year’s Open Bowl Championship features one of the largest pool of contenders for an Open Bowl in recent history. It’s noteworthy to mention that all of the Seoul League’s games will be played on the Dobong Municipal Field, which is a compacted dirt surface. These young men certainly must learn how to play tough.
This year, 9 Seoul teams will take part in the championship. Yongin University White Tigers, Yonsei University Eagles, HanYang University Lions, Seoul National University Green Terrors, Hongik University Cowboys, HanKuk University Black Knights, KonKuk University Raging Bulls, the Korea University Tigers, and last years’ Open Bowl champions the SungKyunKwan University Royals.
