League office orders CFL teams to close facilities

The Canadian Football League office has sent a direct order to its nine franchises: close your facilities amid the coronavirus pandemic.

As of March 19 at 11:30 a.m. eastern time, there are 736 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Canada, 69 percent were from travellers and nine have passed away due to the virus. Commissioner Randy Ambrosie cancelled the CFL combines during the ongoing COVID-19 situation and is planning for contingencies.

CFL training camps are currently scheduled to open May 17 with regular season kick-off set for June 11.
