The 1-5 Traun Steelsharks will try to collect their second win of the season at home in Traun, Austria as they welcome the 3-3 Projekt Spielberg Graz Giants to Trauner Stadion.
The Steelsharks are coming off of record-breaking 70-40 loss to the Swarco Raiders last week which saw the two teams combine to score 69 points in the first half alone as Swarco took a 49-20 lead. Traun quarterback John Uribe moved up to third overall in passing yardage with 1,501 yards after throwing for 355 yards against Swarco. Traun running back Mario Winter is also the third leading rusher. The Steelsharks offense is averaging 32.6 points a game but the defense is allowing 49.
For the Giants, this game is crucial to keep pace with the Dacia Vienna Vikings, Swarco Raiders and SonicWall Modling Rangers. Graz has won three of their four last games, the last two in a row. Their only loss since April 7 was a 36-34 decision to the Rangers.
Since taking over as starting quarterback for the Giants, Robert Gallick has thrown for 961 yards and nine touchdowns in four games. The leading rusher for Graz, Matthias Kiegerl has rushed for 393 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 6.3 yards a carry.
With four games left in the regular season, this is a key game for the Steelsharks to have a chance to qualify for a wild card playoff berth. A loss here would all but eliminate them from post-season play.
