Team Mexico will take on Japan in a rematch of the 2014 World University Championship title game tonight in Monterrey, Mexico. This is a game that has been highly anticipated since Mexico downed Japan 16-7 two years ago in Uppsala, Sweden.
Mexico, playing on home ground, have won both their games easily beating China 74-0 and then handing Guatemala a 63-0 trouncing. Japan overwhelmed Guatemala 72-0 and then were beaten in the final minute of play by the United States 22-14.

Players to watch for on Team Japan include receiver Shunya Kotususa (#82), MVP of Japan’s game against Guatemala as well as Nanato Nishimura (#20) who was outstanding against the USA.
Team Mexico’s Emmanuel Serna (#10) earned MVP honors against China while Rodrigo Arias (#31) was named MVP for Mexico against Guatemala.
