LIVESTREAM Denmark: AaB 89ers @ Copenhagen Towers, Sept. 5, 14:00 CET (08:00 ET)

Saturday features a great matchup between the 2-1 AaB 89ers and the unbeaten Copenhagen Towers (2-0) as the Danish National League heads into the second last weekend of play.

Aalborg comes into this game with a ton of momentum after a huge upset 34-26 victory against the defending champion Triangle Razorbacks last week. For the Towers they will try to stay undefeated and get a win in front of their home crowd this week.

AaB 89ers @ Copenhagen Towers, Sept. 5, 14:00 CET (08:00 ET)

The Copenhagen Towers last played on August 23rd defeating the Triangle Razorbacks in a close game 14-7. The game was a defensive struggle as neither team could mount much offense. The Towers were helped out by a crucial special teams mistake made by the Razorbacks leading to a short field and an easy score. The game’s defining moment came late in the fourth quarter as the Towers defense was able to make a key fourth down stop and thwart the Razorbacks comeback. Another key moment was a 45 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Calvin Stitt to acrobatic receiver MJ Williams. The Towers are now 2-0 so far this season with both wins being close  games against quality opponents. Their defense has been clutch for them so far this year, causing lots of turnovers and shutting down opposing offenses. Quarterback Calvin Stitt on this weeks matchup:

“To stay undefeated its going to come down to playing as a team to get that extra mile to gain that extra yard! Making sure we are all on the same page at all times.”

For the visiting Aalborg 89ers, they won what was probably the most exciting game in Europe last week defeating the Triangle Razorbacks 34-26. A key contributor to the 89ers victory was running back Breon Allen. Allen ran for 187 yards, had 47 yards receiving, and scored three total touchdowns. Allen also scored the go ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter, which was topped off by a clutch two-point conversion by quarterback Alexander Kronborg who found receiver Kasper Kauffman for the score. The 89ers offense was clicking against a quality Razorbacks defense. Things won’t get easier this week as Aalborg will have another stout defensive waiting for them in Copenhagen. Breon Allen’s thoughts on the matchup:

“Against a great defense like theirs I think we have to limit our mistakes, execute the game plan our coaches set up and play as hard as we can. I’m looking forward to the tough task we have ahead this week.”

Both teams this Saturday are coming off close wins against the defending champion Triangle Razorbacks. It will be interesting to see how the week off for Copenhagen plays a role in this game. If the 89ers can put up points this week like they did against the Razorbacks look for them to come home with a huge victory.
