Sunday marks a big matchup in the Danish National League as the Søllerød Gold Diggers travel to visit the Triangle Razorbacks. The Razorbacks are looking to get back on track after two straight close losses. Meanwhile, the Gold Diggers are 2-1 and looking to get a win against another quality opponent.
The Søllerød Gold Diggers come into this game after defeating the Aarhus Tigers 56-0 last week. Quarterback Tanner Gueller threw for 335 yards and 5 touchdowns. The game was a blow out by halftime with the Gold Diggers leading 34-0 at the break. One of Gueller’s favorite targets on the day was Spanish tight end Adria Botella, who hauled in six passes for 188 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, Søllerød dominated the game shutting out Aarhus and holding them to only 79 yards passing and 8 yards rushing. Botella on this week’s matchup:
“We have to keep feeding off the momentum of our last game. We have a lot of weapons on the offensive side and that’s going to create a lot of mismatches. So if we take care of our business and capitalize on those opportunities, we should be able to come up with another win.”

The defending champion Triangle Razorbacks go into their fourth game of the season with a 1-2 record. They are coming off two close losses to solid Aalborg and Copenhagen teams. Last week it was turnovers and penalties that hurt their chances of winning. That being said if the Razorbacks can find their top form again they are a talented team that can beat anyone in the Danish National League. One their talented players is Nico Lester whose slippery running style gained 115 yards against Aalborg last week. Also the return of Spanish running back Adrian Jimenez will be a factor. Jimenenz was suspended for one game after being ejected in the game against the Copenhagen Towers. He has rushed for a total of 240 yards in the six quarters of play he has had so far. Defensively they will need their pass defense to step up this week against a Søllerød team that loves to throw the ball. Razorbacks defensive back Louis Achaintre on the matchup:
“To beat Sollerod I think we need to correct the few mistakes we made last weekend. We played a new system on defense and it takes a bit of time to have all eleven players on the same page. But I think the most important thing is that we need to improve on special teams in order to put ourselves in a better position on defense. Especially against the type of athletes we are going to face.”
Look for this matchup to be preview of this years semi-final or even Mermaid Bowl. This should be a good n exciting game with two teams eager to prove they are contenders. Look for the how the Razorbacks pass defense can match up against the high flying Gold Diggers passing attack.
