The Potsdam Royals (2-3 GFL; 1-0 EFL) from Germany, Europe #20, take on Switzerland’s defending champion Calanda Broncos (7-0 SAFV; 1-0 EFL) Europe #12, in a European Football League game Saturday, May 26 to decide who advances to the EFL final against the Milano Seamen from Italy.
The Royals opened the EFL Group A season by demolishing the Brussels Tigers from Belgium 72-0. Calanda followed that up by thrashing the Tigers 39-0.
Potsdam, new to the German Football League this year, is averaging 37.2 points a game but giving up almost 30.
Potsdam quarterback David Austin Gahafer has thrown for 1,338 yards and 18 touchdowns in five games with Danish receiver Frederik Myrup Nielsen as his main target. Nielsen has caught 20 passes for 553 yards and seven touchdowns. Running back Tyvis Smith has rushed for 430 yards has scored five touchdowns and is fifth in Germany.
The Broncos are led by quarterback Clark Evans whose favorite receiver is Lukas Lütscher. Calanda is the runaway leader in the Swiss league averaging 42 points a game while allowing an average of less than 10.
