LIVESTREAM France: Grizzlys Catalans @ Aix Argonautes, March 8, 19:00 CET (7 pm, 1 pm ET)

The Aix Argonautes (1-2) will host the Grizzlys Catalans (0-1-2) Saturday, March 8 at the Stade Carcassonne stadium in Aix-en-Provence, France in the fourth weekend of play in the French D1 Elite league’s B Conference.

These two teams faced each other twice in 2024 splitting the series. The Grizzlys took the first matchup, beating the Argonautes 22-14 in Aix-en-Provence while the Argonautes won the second late in the season 49-26.

The Argonautes were beaten 34-27 by the Toulouse Ours in their season opener but rebounded with a 35-32 victory over the Nice Dauphins. However, in week 3 they were edged 35-34 by the Cannes Iron Mask.

The Grizzlys opened the season against the Marseille Blue Stars, playing them to a 14-14 tie, precisely as they did in 2024. They then lost a 22-21 decision to the Cannes Iron Mask before being beaten 48-27 by a surprising Toulouse Ours squad in the third weekend of action.

This game could be a duel between the top two passers in France.

Argonautes quarterback Jason Gaines is the second leading passer in the league having thrown for 712 yards and six touchdowns in the three games. His top targets, Dominique Thompson (16/313 yds/3 tds) and Alexandre Agimel (15/272/3) are the #1 and #3 receivers in France.

Grizzlys quarterback Alexander Fromberg leads the league in passing having thrown for 895 yards and five touchdowns in three games. He has thrown three interceptions however. Sean Boswell is his favorite target having caught 12 passes for 222 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Calum Davidson gives Catalans a solid ground game. He is the third leading rusher in the league after having rushed for 273 yards and four scores on 37 carries.

This one is a toss up. Both teams boast strong aerial games. The deciding factor may well be the ground game of Davidson.
