LIVESTREAM France: Saint-Ouen Cougars @ Amiens Spartiates, April 23, 19:00 CET (7 pm, 1 pm ET)

The French Elite D1 Championship league has passed the midpoint of the season and the fight for playoff spots is heating up.

In a battle of 3-3 teams, the Amiens Spartiates and the Saint-ouen l’aumone Cougars will square off for the second time this season. As the teams are tied in the standings, this game will have huge implications for the rest of the year. Their last meeting occurred on March 27th and resulted in a dominating victory for the Cougars, as they came out on top 45-7.

After the Spartiates jumped out to a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, it was all Cougars from that point onwards, as they scored 24 points in the second quarter and 21 in the third quarter to cruise to victory. Quarterback Brody Hahn, who leads the league in touchdown passes, completed 16 of 28 passes for 355 yards and 4 touchdowns in an outstanding performance, while Evans Sodatonou had a monster day receiving with 7 catches for 198 yards and 3 touchdowns.

If Amiens want to have a chance in this one, they will have to find a way to lock down Sodatonou and the other Cougar receivers and make Hahn’s life difficult in the pocket.

Spartiates quarterback Cornelius Kinchen, who has thrown for 838 yards and six touchdowns in five games will have to step up. His leading receiver, D Angelo Chesson, has caught 17 passes for 358 yards and four touchdowns, good for seventh overall. His other receivers including Adrien Watin who had five catches for 69 yards in the loss to the Cougars also need good games.

While the first meeting took place on the Cougars’ home turf, now the Spartiates will have the home-field advantage. Time will tell if they can use that to their advantage and make this game more competitive
