LIVESTREAM: Germany – Braunschweig New Yorker Lions @Dresden Monarchs, Sat. June 1, 6p CEDT (12p EDT)

The Dresden Monarchs (3-0) will play host to the Braunschweig New Yorker Lions (4-0) in a battle of unbeatens in German Football League fifth round action Saturday, June 1.

The Monarchs are coming off of three straight wins, 49-13 over the Dusseldorf Panther, 42-14 over the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes and a 17-0 shutout of the Cologne Crocodiles. Meanwhile, Braunschweig has won four in a row beating Cologne in back-to-back games 23-6 and 45-7 and then the Berlin Rebels 29-12 and Potsdam Royals 35-14.

Monarchs quarterback Zach Greenlee leads the GFL in yards per game, 359, and has thrown nine touchdown passes. His leading target is Kevonn Mabon who has 26 receptions for 526 yards and three touchdowns and leads the league in receiving yards per game (175.3 yds/game). British RB Glen Toonga has rushed for 221 yards and two touchdowns in three games while Greenlee has scored four touchdowns on the ground. Linebacker AJ Wentland leads a ferocious Dresden defense and is again the leading tackler in the GFL and already has 42.

The Lions offense has been effective with QB Brandon Connette throwing for just 540 yards in the four wins. The backfield duo of Chris McClendon (247 yds) and David McCants (151 yds) along  with Connette (243 yds) give the Lions the best rushing attack in the GFL (159 yds/game). Wide receivers Nicolai Schumann (155 yds) and Christian Bollmann with 142 yards receiving lead the team.

Braunschweig has the best defense in the GFL and has only allowed opponents an average of 203.8 yards of offense a game. Dresden has the second-best offense averaging 486 yards a game.
