Two teams who may well be battling for a playoff spot in the German Football League South face each other Saturday, May 4 as the Kirchdorf Wildcats head to Munich to take on the Munich Cowboys.
These two teams took turns beating each other in 2018. Kirchdorf won the first game of the series, downing the Cowboys 13-12. Munich gained revenge in an important game for them later in the season, prevailing 14-6.
The Cowboys reached the playoffs in 2018 for the first time since 2014 and HC Garren Holley is aiming to improve on that this season. Holley has signed QB Brady Bolles (Northwest Missouri State) along with dangerous WR Jaylen Zachery (Central Missouri State) who was in camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
HC Christoph Riener has signed Clayton Turner (Miami, NCAA, Div. I, Kiel Baltic Hurricanes) as his QB and offensive coordinator for 2019 hoping to improve on an offense that averaged just 12 points a game in 2018. Defensive lineman Shannon Smith (Bowling Green, NCAA Div. I) will help bolster a defense that was ranked a respectable 7th in the GFL last year.
