LIVESTREAM Germany: Saarland Hurricanes @ Munich Cowboys, June 10, 16:00 CET (4 pm, 10 am EDT)

Saturday, June 9th, the Saarland Hurricanes (0-1) will face off against the Munich Cowboys (1-0) in both teams’ second German Football League game of the season.

While the Munch Cowboys started off the GFL season with an 18-7 win at home against the Marburg Mercenaries. They will be facing a Saarland Hurricanes team who are looking for their first win. The Hurricanes fell just short against the Allgäu Comets in a 52-48 loss in their 2023 debut.

With quarterback Manuel Engelmann, Munich was able to get the job done last week against Marburg. Even though they scored the second fewest points out of any winning team thus far in 2023. Although they struggled through the air, it was their defense and rushing offense that won them their first game of the season.

Led by running back Felix Wenz, the Cowboys rushed for 201 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Wenz, who found the end zone twice, rushed for 125 yards, including a 73-yard score.

The key for Munich and head coach Nadine Nurasyid is going to be to make sure they are able to establish their run game early and try and stop a Saarland offense that scored 48 points in their week one loss.

On the other side, the Hurricanes looked like one of the better offenses in the GFL thus far. Led by quarterback Kyle King, the Saarland offense put up 486 total yards and seven touchdowns. King threw for 412 yards and all seven touchdowns in that opening loss of the year.

While King spread the ball out very well to his receivers, it was Marvin Fuchs and Marian Mended who shone the brightest. The receiving duo combined for 18 receptions, 263 yards and six touchdowns.

Like many teams in the GFL, Saarland has a very pass heavy offense. If dual head coaches Hendrick Voss and Jakob Lawrence want to find their first win of the season, they will continue to air the ball out this week against Munich.
