Great Britain beat Finland 21-14 to claim the silver medal on a head-to-head tiebreaker and see action for the first time in the 2026/26 competition. Two-time European champion Finland opened the Euros in May with a 21-7 home victory over Germany on home soil in Vantaa as quarterback Lea Kaszas threw two touchdown passes in the win.

“Our team includes many first timers at the national level,” said Finland head coach Samu Juppo. “This group is undoubtedly hungry, with a strong desire to prove themselves, and the experienced players bring a certain calmness to the newcomers’ efforts. The goal is to challenge a strong Great Britain. They’re a highly physical team, and we need to match their physicality.”

In hat past meeting, Great Britain’s Becky Martin blocked a fourth quarter field goal that would otherwise have earned silver for Finland based on the points differential tiebreaker. Finland hurt their chances with four turnovers, including three interceptions. Phoebe Schecter signed off from her GB career with the game winning score as she stripped the ball loose and returned a forced fumble for the all-important touchdown.
