The Mexico (3-0) and United States (2-0) women enter Saturday’s IFAF World Flag 2026 quarterfinals against Spain (2-1) and Germany (2-1), respectively, while Canada (3-0) faces Austria (2-1) and Great Britain (3-0) takes on Panama (2-1) as the championship moves into the knockout stage in Düsseldorf.
The stakes also jump considerably on Day 3. Saturday’s winners move into the semifinals, putting them one victory away from reaching the championship game.
Mexico draws dangerous Spain
World No. 1 Mexico survived its toughest test of the tournament Friday, edging Italy 14-12 after scoring 91 points across its first two games.
Quarterback Diana Flores connected with Monica Rangel for both touchdowns as Mexico completed group play unbeaten.
Now comes Spain, which went 2-1 and scored 31 points against the United States in Friday’s 52-31 loss. Their quarterfinal kicks off at 09:15.

Canada meets Austria
Canada also enters the knockout stage at 3-0 after beating Japan 34-20 to finish group play.
Waiting in the quarterfinal is Austria, which went 2-1 and owns a 37-13 victory over Japan. The Austrians suffered their first defeat Friday, falling 47-26 to Great Britain.
USA faces the home team
The defending champion United States gets perhaps the most interesting atmosphere of the women’s quarterfinals when it faces host Germany at 10:30.
Quarterback Akemi Higa and the USA offense put up 52 points against Spain, with Maci Joncich catching four touchdown passes and Ashlea Klam adding two.
Germany, meanwhile, recovered from its opening loss to Mexico with victories over Italy and Slovenia.
Great Britain gets Panama
Great Britain completed an unbeaten group stage by beating Austria 47-26. Emily Kemp finished group play with nine touchdown receptions among her 27 catches and also threw a touchdown pass.
The British now face Panama at 10:30.
Saturday also includes placement games before Italy and Japan meet at 14:15, closing out the women’s schedule for the round.
With four quarterfinals and no margin for error, the tournament now shifts from jockeying for position to simply surviving and advancing.
