The 1-0 Lazio Ducks will welcome the 0-1 Ancona Dolphins to Rome, Sunday, March 17 in the second game for both teams in Italy’s Div. 1 2019 season.
The Ducks had a solid opening weekend win over the Bologna Warriors last week, doubling up on them 40-20. Meanwhile, Ancona lost a close one to the Parma Panthers, 14-10.
In Lazio’s win, quarterback Tyler Johnson threw for 281 yards and three touchdowns while running back Mike Gentili picked up where he left off in 2018, racking up 102 yards rushing and scoring a touchdown. Leading receivers for the Ducks were Tommaso Pozzebon who had five catches for 64 yards and a touchdown and Gentili with three catches for 40 yards and another touchdown. Game MVP Lorenzo Melchiorre hauled in a 62 yard touchdown pass as well.
Although the Dolphins were held to only 10 points last week by Parma, quarterback Nelson Hughes still threw for 256 yards and a touchdown with Dylan Albertson his leading target with eight receptions for 91 yards and a touchdown. However, the Ancona running attack was anemic totaling -11 yards.
For Ancona to have any chance of winning this one, they have to forge seams for running back Davide Gatto to utilize.
