The 0-2 Torino Giaguari will try to turn the tide Saturday, April 6 in Italy’s Div. I when they play host to the 2-0 Firenze Guelfi.
Torino lost 30-21 to the Bergamo Lions two weeks ago after dropping their season opener to the Bolzano Giants 41-7.
Torino quarterback Mark Wright is the fourth leading passer in Italy this year so far but still only thrown for 342 yards and three touchdowns in two games. His leading receiver is Michael Wacoubo who has eight catches for 101 yards and a touchdown. Adehkeem Brown as his second-leading receiver with five catches for 88 yards. The Giaguari are only averaging 34.5 yards rushing per game.
Firenze enter the game as the surprise of the league so far with running back Silas Nacita and quarterback Lynx Hawthorne leading the way.
Under new head coach Art Briles, the Guelfi opened the season with two convincing wins, first downing the Parma Panthers 27-17 and then beating the Lazio Ducks 36-22. Nacita has 219 yards rushing so far after two games to go along with 124 yards receiving. Hawthorne has thrown for 319 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 164 and another touchdown. Nacita has also played defense and has two interceptions to his credit so far.
Safety Steve Franco rounds out the trio of imports that have helped give Firenze such a great start to the season.
