In this highly anticipated matchup of undefeated teams in the Polish Football League, the Bialystok Lowlanders (2-0) will take on the Bydgoszcz Archers (3-0) Saturday, May 22.
This game pits two of the three remaining undefeated teams in the PFL against each other. The game could serve as a preview of an intense future playoff matchup.
The Lowlanders entered the 2021 season as one the favorites to win the PFL after finishing as title runner ups in 2020. However off-season transfers and injuries have held them back this season. In the team’s first game, import quarterback Derrick Evans went down with a lower body injury. Polish passers Lukas Silwowski, Marcin Wojtuluewicz and French receiver Benjamin Lolmede have filled in admirably leading the Lowlanders to wins against the Warsaw Mets and Warsaw Eagles.

Head coach Troy Baker spoke of the team’s current situation on offense:
“Our mindset is to get healthy and fix our offense. We’ve made a ton of mistakes through two games. Hopefully, we gotten those out of our system and can finish from now on. We haven’t had a full team yet on the field so it would be good to get to that point as well. See what we actually have.”
Defensively, Bialystok has started strong, allowing only 19 points in two games this season. Brothers Konrad and Eryk Paszkiewicz anchor an excellent Bialystok defensive line. Behind them, ballhawking defensive back Krzyszof Polak patrols the secondary.
The Archers success this season comes at no surprise to general manager Osman Sulkiewicz who has assembled an exciting group of players. None more so than quarterback Jake Schimenz. Schimenz has been one of the league’s most dynamic signal callers using his legs and arm to create big plays. Through only three games he has accounted for eight total scores. Schimenz will have his toughest test yet facing an athletic Lowlanders defense.

Defensively, the Archers are led by linebacker Robbie Wallace whose rare combination of size and speed make him one of the league’s most versatile defenders. His fearless playing style has helped the Archers create multiple turnovers in all three of their games.
Fans of the Polish Football League have been eagerly awaiting this matchup of undefeated teams. The upstart Archers will have a chance to take down one of the early season favorites as the Lowlanders enter today’s game with a long list of injuries.
