LIVESTREAM Polish Bowl XVIII: Silesia Rebels vs Bialystok Lowlanders, July 8, 15:00 CET (3 pm, 9 am EDT)

The script of Polish Bowl XVIII fairly is simple, last year’s Cinderella Białystok Lowlanders became this year’s “Eastern Empire”, who will try to secure back-to-back titles. In order to do that they will have to defeat the underdog Silesia Rebels ….( haven’t we’ve seen this one before).

What’s really fascinating is the context of this game. In the Polish culture, the 18th birthday marks a rite of passage – officially you become adult – if you know a thing or two about Polish culture it’s a huge party. The game will be played at the Polonia Warsaw Stadium and for the first time in a decade, the Polish Bowl will be hosted in the Capital.

Beasts from the Easts

The Lowlanders, “The Thundering Herd of Polish Bison” enter this game as defending champions and heavy favorites with the 7-1 record. They rolled over the Katy Wroclawskie Jaguars in the semifinals, easily beating them 42-7. They are led by head coach Troy Baker and quarterback Clayton Uecker, his most trusted wide receivers, Krzysztof Nosow Eryk Mąkowski and Rafał Królewski. The Lowlanders defense is as mighty as the Polish Bison with the veteran leadership of Damian Wesolowski, Eryk Paszkiewicz, Noel Graf and Aaron Ortiz.

The heart of the Rebels

The Rebels, named after the victorious Silesia Uprisings, enter Saturday’s game as a classic Hollywood Underdog. To earn their right to play in the final they defeated the Warsaw Mets 55-53 in the semifinals, after an offensive Fiesta led by their head coach Michal Kolek and quarterback Carlton Aiken. The Rebels defense can be their “Achilles heel” though. Still, Silesia has no pressure, and they could definitely crash the party.

As mentioned earlier, it’s going to be an exciting game, so get your popcorn ready.
