The second-seeded Wroclaw Panthers host the third-seeded Silesia Rebels Katowice in the Polish Football League semifinals with a place in the XXI Polish Bowl on the line, marking the third meeting between the two rivals this season.
The teams split the regular-season series, with the Rebels claiming a 27-19 victory in the first meeting before the Panthers answered with a 34-14 win in the rematch. With the series tied, Saturday’s semifinal will decide who earns a shot at the Polish championship.
Panthers hitting their stride
The Panthers have been one of the league’s hottest teams down the stretch. They finished the regular season in second place before opening the playoffs with a dominant 42-0 victory over Zielona GóraWataha.
Re-al Mitchell led the way with five total touchdowns, scoring twice on the ground while connecting with Tomasz Burdziński for three touchdown passes. Just as impressive was the Wroclaw defense, which kept its opponent off the scoreboard from start to finish.

Head coach Jakub Samel knows his team faces a much tougher challenge this weekend.
“The semi-final against Silesia Rebels Katowice will be one of the biggest challenges in the last two seasons for our young team. We are preparing for a very physical meeting where every little detail will matter. As a team, we have to use every minute of training in the right way. On Saturday, we have to go out on the pitch confident in our tactical assumptions and enforce them with full precision and concentration.”
Rebels finding momentum
The Rebels advanced with a 31-21 quarterfinal victory over the Olsztyn Lakers, building a 28-7 halftime lead before holding off a late comeback.
Jeremiah Tucker accounted for three touchdowns, throwing scoring passes to Ryan Wakeling and Mateusz Szurpicki while adding another on a quarterback sneak. Wakeling also kicked a 23-yard field goal and converted all three extra points as Silesia showed the offensive balance that helped it reach the semifinals.
Winner takes all
After each team won once during the regular season, there will be no surprises when these familiar opponents line up across from one another.
The Panthers will again rely on the Mitchell-Burdziński connection, while the Rebels counter with Tucker, Wakeling and one of the league’s most experienced rosters. With a trip to the Polish Bowl at stake, expect another physical battle where execution in the biggest moments could decide who advances.
