LIVESTREAM PPV: NEFL – Copenhagen Towers @Stockholm Mean Machines, Sat. April 27, 3p CEDT (9a EDT)

The Danish reigning champions, the Copenhagen Towers head north to Stockholm, Sweden Saturday, April 27 to take on the defending Swedish title holders, the Stockholm Mean Machines in the second game of the Northern European Football League.

Stockholm opened the NEFL season losing a close game to Finland’s Helsinki Roosters 21-19 two weeks ago in Helsinki.

The Towers are the defending NEFL champions after beating the Carlstad Crusaders in the final. Copenhagen then went on to play Austria’s Swarco Raiders in the NEFL/CEFL Superfinal, where they came out on the losing end, 41-20.

The Mean Machines, who stunned the Swedish football community to start the season by decisively beating the Carlstad Crusaders 33-13, are healthy. Head coach Fredrik Pilbäck has brought in Austrian national team quarterback Alex Thury who looked solid in the win over Carlstad, completing 16 of 26 passes for 139 yards and three touchdowns. His wide receivers Omar Fall, Per Lindelöf and Hans Maximilian von Wachsmann are all dangerous. Also at his disposal is Alpha Jalloh who is the joker. Against the Roosters he had a monster  day hauling in 13 passes for 222 yards (of Stockholm’s 242 total) and two touchdowns while Denny John scored the third touchdown on a pass from Thury who completed 17 of 29 passes.

Copenhagen will enter the game relatively healthy and with quarterback, Danny Higgins from Bridgewater State University. Running back Ashton Heard from  North Greenville University is also a key to the offense. Although the Towers came out tentative last week against the Frederikssund Oaks  in their opener and only led 12-7 at the half, they came together scoring 30 straight points in the second half as Higgins found his rhythm. They have also beaten the Aarhus Tigers fairly easily, 40-8.
