LIVESTREAM Spain: Gijon Mariners @ Las Rozas Black Demons, March 6, 17:00 CET (11:00 ET)

The undefeated Las Rozas Black Demons (4-0) host the Gijon Mariners (0-4) Saturday, March 6 in one of two games slated for this weekend the Spanish LNFA Series A.

This game will be a great test for a young Mariners team looking for a win against the hottest team in Spain.

The Gijon Mariners lost last week 49-12 to the Osos Rivas. While their defense struggled to contain a potent Osos Rivas offense, the Mariners own offense made some big plays to keep the game entertaining. Quarterback Marcos Martinez was able to find receiver Alejandro Herrero for two touchdowns. Martinez and Herrero split the safeties for a beautiful touchdown pass down the middle of the field, giving Gijon a shot of energy. National team running back Miguel Quince is another weapon the Mariners can use to get the run game going. Look for the athletic Herrero to be a factor again this week as he has been a two-way superstar for this Mariners squad helping out at receiver, running back, linebacker, and safety.

Herrero looks forward to the challenge against the talent-filled Black Demons

““Even though it’s a hard task to win, it’s a pleasure to measure myself against their good players.”

Gijon Mariners @ Las Rozas Black Demons, March 6, 17:00 CET (11:00 ET)

The Las Rozas Black Demons head into this game with a lot of confidence after beating the Feungirola Potros 41-8. The Black Demons offense looked sharp as quarterback Chris Merchant spread out his passing attack to multiple receivers. The potent offense will unfortunately be missing running back Javier Carrasco the rest of the season, as he has flown to Poland to join the Bydgoszcz Archers. Look for running back Marcos De la Mata get more carries in Carrasco’s absence as the season wears on.

De la Mata humbly credits the Black Demons offensive line for the success of the running game.

“Javier is a power runner who has helped us a lot until this march, but personally I think the real secret to the success of our run game is the offensive line, they make most of the runs happen, we have five yards until we have to make the first cut and counting. “

Defensively, the Black Demons have been swarming to the ball, creating turnovers, and making life hell for opposing offenses all season. One key to their consistency is athletic linebacker William Lloyd. Lloyd, along with Clemson product Darius Robinson and a core of good young Spanish players have made this defense one of the league’s best.

Lloyd likes the speed of his Black Demons defense:

“I think the key to our success defensively is playing fast. We’re not the biggest defense so speed and being physical has been our biggest asset.”

Las Rozas looks to stay hot as the playoffs approach, while the Mariners have a chance to prove to themselves that they can hang with the big dawgs.
