LIVESTREAM SWEDEN: Tyresö Royal Crowns @ Örebro Black Knights, May 11, 15:00 CET (3 pm, 9 am EDT).

The Örebro Black Knights (1-2) are badly in need of a win when they host the Tyresö Royal Crowns at Behrn Arena today, May 11 as the Swedish Superserien heads into the second half of the season.

The Black Knights have not played a game since suffering an upset 31-23 loss to the Limhamn Griffins three weeks ago. They had opened the season by dropping a 39-18 decision to the Stockholm Mean Machines but then got their only win when they beat Norway’s Oslo Vikings 31-19.

Tyresö opened the season by downing the Vikings 56-37 but then dropped a tough 24-21 decision to the Calrstad Crusaders. They then blanked the Griffins 35-0.

For the Black Knights, Trevor Vasey has thrown for 899 yards and seven touchdowns in the three games but leads in league with an average of 300 yards passing per game. The 6’6″, 220 pound Vasey has several targets including Elliot Hammar who has 14 catches for 195  yards and Anton Enkvist who has 14 for 208 yards. Johannes Lindéus has 17 receptions for 187 yards. While the aerial game is excellent for the Black Knights, the ground game is lacking. Their leading rusher has been Jonathan Eklund who has rushed for a total of 61 yards.

Royal Crowns quarterback Jared Heywood has been steady throwing for 473 yards and eight touchdowns in his two appearances. Receiver Kevin Börzsei has been tough on opposing secondaries with 16 receptions for 282 yards and three touchdowns while teammate Edvin Almeida has nine catches for 117 yards and three scores. Running back Vilgot Valeskog, star of Sweden’s junior team, has rushed for 235 yards and three touchdowns.

This game is a toss up. The Black Knights are playing at home and have their backs against the wall. Tyresö’s only loss was a close one to Carlstad and they are always dangerous.
