The 2019 NFL campaign will be a memorable one as it marks the 100th season to be played in the history of the competition.

The season will begin on September 5 with the Chicago Bears hosting Green Bay Packers and will conclude at Super Bowl LIV, the league’s championship game, scheduled for February 2, 2020, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

The New England Patriots will be the team to beat once again as they bid to win their fourth Super Bowl championship in the past six years.

However, there are numerous teams who hold a genuine chance of stopping the Patriots in their tracks. Read on as we look at the main contenders to win Super Bowl LIV.

Patriots will be tough to topple

Punters who visit BetEasy will find there is little to choose between the most fancied teams to win the Super Bowl next season.

Their 13-3 victory over Los Angeles Rams in last season’s final was a lesson in how to stop another team playing.

Head coach Bill Belichick stifled the Rams’ much-vaunted offense, preventing them from running a single play inside the Patriots’ 26-yard line.

It is difficult to win back-to-back Super Bowls, but it would certainly be foolish to underestimate New England’s chances of doing just that.

Rams on a recovery mission

Los Angeles were fancied by many pundits in North America to beat New England last term, but they were deservedly defeated by Belichick’s team.

Rams’ head coach Sean McVay said after the game that he had been “out-coached” by Belichick and no-one was in a rush to disagree with his view.

Los Angeles’ offense had been excellent in the run-up to the Super Bowl, scoring the second-most points and gaining the second-most yards.

If they can repeat that form in 2019 and McVay can add a ‘Plan B’ into his repertoire, the Rams could be a force to be reckoned with.

Chiefs hoping to end long wait

Kansas City Chiefs haven’t won the Super Bowl since 1970, although there are reasons to believe they can end that drought next season.

The Chiefs made it to the AFC Championship game last season where they were eventually beaten 37-31 by the Patriots after overtime.

The acquisition of defensive end Frank Clark in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks on a long-term deal gives the Chiefs the dominant pass rusher they were missing last season.

Clark has been one of the most consistent players in his position over the past few seasons and could be the key to the Chiefs finally winning another Super Bowl.

Best of the rest

New Orleans Saints, Cleveland Browns and Chicago Bears are all prominent in the Super Bowl betting, while the likes of Los Angeles Chargers, Indianapolis Colts and Green Bay Packers are also in the mix.

The Saints are probably the best of that bunch after progressing to the NFC Championship game last term. They were beaten 26-23 in overtime by the Rams, but it was a controversial defeat.

A missed call by the officials proved to be decisive and cost the Saints their first trip to the Super Bowl since the 2009 season.

However, quarterback Drew Bees remains a class act and with head coach Sean Payton leading the way the Saints should be in contention.
