New passing leader in Austria as season hits midpoint

At the  midway point of the 10-game season in the Austrian Football League, there is a new passing leader as Ljubljana Silverhawks signal caller Zach Cavanaugh has taken the lead and quarterbacks still top the rushing list as  Garrett Safron from the Dacia Vienna Vikings has returned to the top spot, sliding past Mödling Rangers QB Dylan Potts as the top rusher in Austria.

The surprising Traun Steelsharks and SonicWall Mödling Rangers along with the Vikings and the Ljubljana Silverhawks now lead with four players in the top 5 in four categories. Then comes the Swarco Raiders with two while the Bratislava Monarchs and Projekt Spielberg Graz Giants have one each.

Passing

Zach Cavanaugh of the Silverhawks threw for 422 yards in his team’s 31-28 win over the Danube Dragons and is the new passing leader in Austria with 1,398 yards and 14 TDS.  Garrett Safron of the Dacia Vienna Vikings has droppped to second with 1,259 yards and a league leading 19 TDs. Mödling Rangers QB Dylan Potts is now the 3rd leading passer with 1,253 yards after throwing for 444 yards against the Graz Giants. .John Urive of the Traun Steelsharks has 1,146 yards and is now 4th. Swarco Raiders QB Sean Shelton is 5th with 1,117 yards and 15 TDs.

Receiving

SonicWall Mödling Rangers  WR Roman Namdar has climbed into the top spot in receiving yardage in the Austrian Football League with 667 yards. Matic Tomse of the Ljubljana Silverhawks drops down to 2nd for the first time with his 510 yards.  Vienna Vikings WR Bernhard Seikovits has moved up into 3rd with 406 yards while another Silverhawks receiver, Eugen Sumic moves up into 4th with 396 yards. Mario Winter from the Traun Steelsharks has slid down to 5th  with 355 yards.

Rushing

The rushing title continues to seesaw between two quarterbacks as Garrett Safron of the Dacia Vienna Vikings has regained the rushing lead with 514 yards and a league-best 8 TDs. Dylan Potts of the Mödling Rangers has slipped into second, Potts now has 483 yards rushing.  Traun Steelsharks RBs, Felix Stadler and Florian Nöhmayr are 3rd and 4th with 405 and 375 yards respectively. Islaam Amadu of the Vikings remains in 5th with his 333 yards.

Tackles

Mödling Rangers LB Barron Miller still leads all tacklers in the AFL with 32 tackles. But Swarco Raiders LB Fabian Seeber had a monster game on defense against the Vienna Vikings recording 12.5 tackles, vaulting him into 2nd with 25.5 overall. Stefan Promitzer of the Graz Giants has advanced to 3rd, also with 25.5 while Ljubljana Silverhawks LB Patrick Kenney moved up to 4th with 25 tackles. Cameron Smith of the Bratislava Monarchs has fallen to 5th with 23 tackles.
