New York Giants WR Anthony Dablé is About Making Things Happen After the Catch

At 6-5, French import Anthony Dablé is now the New York Giants‘ tallest wide receiver. However, despite his height, leaping ability and downfield prowess, Dablé prefers his game to be played underneath and on short routes.

Dablé told The Star-Ledger over the weekend that his game perfectly suits Big Blue’s West Coast-style offense because of his ability to make big things happen after short, high-percentage passes.

“I really like to make things happen after the catch. That’s what I do,” Dablé told The Star-Ledger. “I can do (downfield passes) too, but I like to catch the short passes which give me a little bit of space, so I can make it happen. I can do both, but that’s what I like: Short catches, and to make it happen after the catch.”

Despite what he offers the Giants in terms of size and ability, Dablé understands there’s an uphill battle to even make the team’s roster out of training camp. But he’s a guy who aims high, and as a starter for his entire career, Dablé not only intends to earn a spot on the 53-man roster, but possibly even start across from Odell Beckham Jr.

“You have to think about it. I’ve always been a starter, my entire career. I’m trying to do the same, and help the team the best way I can. I’m not trying to go to the NFL to be on the bench or something. I’m trying to play, and play right away.”

To this point, Dablé has remained in Florida training and has not yet met any of his teammates outside of quarterback Eli Manning. In fact, he’s not yet even heard from any outside of Manning, but as the NFL Draft and subsequent mini-camps approach, he can expect that to change in short order.
