With so many predictions being made by the hour it is no wonder that the company will be packed with fans trying to support their favourite quarterback. Our team decided to dig deeper and see which of the NFL quarterbacks has the biggest chance to be the best of this years league.

Patrick Mahomes

There is simply no comparison to Mahomes. The quarterback has seemingly emerged from another planet, fundamentally altering the way we perceive the position. Mahomes has shattered all expectations, setting the bar impossibly high and redefining what it means to be an MVP. As the driving force of Kansas City, Mahomes taps into an inner resilience that allows him to overcome pain, ignore the odds, and dictate his own fate. His incredible last-minute scramble against the Eagles in the Super Bowl could easily be considered the greatest play in the history of the event. Some might say this is an overstatement, but as someone who witnessed the play in person, I can attest to the privilege of seeing Mahomes tear through Philly’s defense in real-time for an incredible 26 yards. This moment set the stage for a game-winning field goal that would secure his second Lombardi trophy. A month ago, one might have asked what more Mahomes could do to redefine the position. He had already achieved so much, so young. However, with multiple championships, multiple MVPs, and an undeniable sense of momentum, it seems that Mahomes’ impact on the league is just getting started.

Jalen Hurts

Despite a heroic performance by Mahomes during the second half of the game, Philly’s prized quarterback, Hurts, responded time and time again, despite a shoulder injury, to dominate Kansas City with a Super Bowl-record three rushing touchdowns. Despite starting the season on a theoretical “tryout” to keep his job, Hurts demonstrated visible growth from the outset. He maximized the talents of A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, unleashing an unstoppable air attack that often put opponents to sleep early on. Hurts has also proven himself to be one of the game’s most powerful runners from the quarterback position. While this index typically focuses on physical exploits, it is impossible to overlook Hurts’ exceptional leadership. His grounded response to a challenging Super Bowl defeat speaks to a rare quality of character. It seems clear that both Hurts and the Eagles have what it takes to make a return to football’s grandest stage.

Joe Burrow

Burrow has been nothing short of impressive in the 2021 and 2022 NFL seasons, earning him a spot as one of the top quarterbacks in the league. While Allen is a close contender, Burrow’s contributions in reviving Cincinnati’s franchise with a trip to the Super Bowl cannot be ignored. Despite playing behind a struggling offensive line, Burrow has consistently led the Bengals to big wins, aided by his connection with star receivers Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Tyler Boyd. With a completion percentage of 68.3% and 35 passing touchdowns, Burrow has solidified his place as a top quarterback in the league. If the Bengals can provide adequate protection for him, it’s only a matter of time before Burrow achieves his first professional title.

Josh Allen

When Allen is playing at his best, he is arguably the top quarterback in the NFL. His cannon arm and impressive running abilities make him nearly impossible to defend against at times, even though he can be prone to mistakes. At worst, Allen is still considered a top-three QB.

Last season, Allen’s remarkable two-game performance in the playoffs made him the leading contender for the 2022 MVP award. In his efforts to bring Buffalo its first Super Bowl title, the 26-year-old completed 77.4% of his passes for 637 yards and nine touchdowns, and also rushed for 134 yards. Allen’s overall 2022 stat line of 4,283 passing yards, 35 passing touchdowns, and 14 interceptions resulted in his second Pro Bowl selection in three years. Moreover, Allen’s rushing abilities were on full display again as he ran for just over 760 yards for the second consecutive season while also scoring at least six rushing touchdowns in each of his five NFL seasons.

Bryce Young

Bryce Young and Stroud are neck and neck, with personal preference being the deciding factor between them. However, in the latest edition of PFN’s Top 2023 NFL Draft quarterbacks, Stroud has a slight edge over Young in the QB1 race. Young’s size and weight have been a point of contention, with his measurement of 5’10 1/2″ and over 200 pounds at the Combine being seen as a win by some. Despite being a size outlier with a playing weight in the 190s, Young is an exceptional playmaker both in and out of the pocket, with the instincts and intangibles to excel as a franchise QB.

Even with all those amazing players, the outcome of the upcoming season is still unknown, many predictions have been made and there are still a lot to come. But no matter which one is put on the top we can say for sure that every team and player will give everything they have to bring a good game on the field.
