Sweden: Örebro Black Knights shut out Oslo Vikings in Superserien road rout

The Örebro Black Knights (3–1) blanked the Oslo Vikings (1–3) 24–0 in Oslo on Saturday, May 11, extending their Swedish Superserien win streak and stifling the hosts’ offense with a dominant defensive display.

Defensive maturity stifles Vikings
Coordinator Erik Törnblom’s unit delivered a historic clean sheet, suffocating Oslo’s playmakers at every turn. “No one believed in us except us,” said Törnblom, referencing preseason doubts. A pivotal second-quarter interception by Murphy halted Oslo’s lone red-zone threat, while young defenders and veteran leaders combined to limit the Vikings to 210 total yards.

Balanced attack fuels victory
Offensive coordinator Joel Isacson praised his group’s “decent game” despite missed opportunities. Running back Jakub Brezina starred with three touchdowns, including a 30-yard second-quarter sprint, while Trevor Vasey’s 60-yard first-quarter TD catch from Viktor Ekberg set the tone. Kicker Edvin Jönsson added a 32-yard field goal, capping a methodical fourth-quarter drive.

Key moments seal Knights’ control
After Vasey’s early score, Brezina’s third-quarter TD (21–0) extinguished Oslo’s momentum. The Black Knights’ offensive line dominated, allowing zero sacks and paving the way for 185 rushing yards. “We’re more mature this year,” Törnblom noted, emphasizing improved leadership from veterans and rising contributors.

Road ahead
The Black Knights, now second in the standings, return home with confidence but no complacency. “We have a long way to go,” Törnblom stressed. Oslo, reeling from three straight losses, faces urgent adjustments ahead of their next matchup. For Örebro, the shutout signals a team peaking at the right time—and refusing to settle.
