Poland: Jaguars overwhelm Wataha to continue strong run

The Polish Football League matchup between the Katy Wroclawskie Jaguars (5-2) and Zielona Gora Wataha (3-4) was competitive early, but the Jaguars gradually took control and rolled to a convincing 46-7 victory on their home field.

Behind another outstanding performance from Rafał Rutowicz, the Jaguars once again showed why they have become one of the league’s most dangerous teams in the second half of the season.

Jaguars strike early

The game started with both teams battling for momentum, but Katy Wroclawskie landed the first big blow.

Rutowicz connected with Fabian Paluszek on a 66-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring before finding Daniel Bender on a 21-yard touchdown strike later in the quarter. With Konrad Stępień converting both extra points, the Jaguars quickly built a 14-0 lead.

Wataha briefly responds

Early in the second quarter, Zielona Gora showed signs of life.

Kuba Zapotoczny-Chabura found Kacper Woźniak for a seven-yard touchdown pass, and Tymoteusz Zieniewicz added the extra point to cut the deficit to 14-7.

That would prove to be the visitors’ only score of the afternoon.

Filip Ciborowski answered with a six-yard touchdown run before halftime, sending the Jaguars into the break with a 20-7 advantage.

Rutowicz takes over

The third quarter belonged entirely to the home team.

Rutowicz and Paluszek connected again, this time on a 15-yard touchdown pass. The quarterback then found Jakub Krakowiak for another score before hitting Daniel Bender on a 37-yard touchdown strike to stretch the lead to 39-7.

Any hope of a Wataha comeback disappeared as the Jaguars continued to dominate possession and control the tempo.

Offense finishes the job

Rutowicz put the finishing touch on another excellent performance in the fourth quarter, finding Bender for a 10-yard touchdown pass.

The connection between Rutowicz, Paluszek and Bender proved too much for Zielona Gora to handle as the Katy Wroclawskie Jaguars improved to 5-2 and strengthened their position among the top teams in the Polish Football League.
