Poland’s Bialystok Lowlanders sign playoff QB Brandon Gwinner

The Bialystok Lowlanders  from Poland’s Liga Futbolu Amerykańskiego, have signed quarterback Brandon Gwinner, fresh from the Finnish Maple League semifinals, with the sudden departure of Jon Mullin.

According to the club, Mullin, who led the Lowlanders to a 38-14 win last week over the Silesia Rebels, was forced to leave due to health/personal issues.

The 23 year old, 6’3″, 220 pound Gwinner from Morrisville State, just finished the season playing for the Wasa Royals in Finland’s Maple League, leading them to the semifinals where they lost in a thriller to the Helsinki Wolverines 42-41. He was the fourth leading passer in the shortened season in Finland throwing for 732 yards and seven touchdowns in five games but he was the fifth leading rusher with 364 yards on 68 carries and scored eight touchdowns on the ground. In 2019, he played for the Brisbane Rhinos in Australia where he threw for over 30 touchdowns and was named team MVP.  He started the 2020 season with the Yeditepe Eagles of the Turkish League of American Football and managed to play and win one game before the coronavirus pandemic shut down the season. Gwinner spent four seasons at Morrisville State before joining the Rhinos. At Morrisville, he threw for 4,215 yards and 34 touchdowns in 26 games.

The Lowlanders‘ next game is September 19 when they face the Bydgoszcz Archers.
