Poland’s Wroclaw Panthers re-sign Deante Battle for 6th season

One of the anchors of the Wroclaw Panthers for the past five years and a key to the team’s success in 2016 in winning both the Polish and IFAF Europe Champions League title, Deante Battle has re-signed for the 2017 season.

The 5’10”, 185 lb Battle from Northwestern University, has been an integral part of the Wroclaw organization since 2011, Playing both free safety and returning kicks as well as coaching the secondary, he has helped the Panthers to three straight Polish Bowl appearances winning that last one.

Prior to joining Wroclaw, Battle played for the Marburg Mercenaries in the German Football League helping the team to reach with German semifinals that year while recording six interceptions.

Needless to say, Panthers head coach Nick Johansen is happy about Battle’s return:

“Deante was the first person I met with coming into Wroclaw. His play speaks for itself. It would be hard to argue that he is not playing his best ball currently with a coaching leadership on the field. We are very happy to maintain continuity on the defensive side of the ball and have him back.”
